Yes it happens! I've no BA, KLM or AF FF-status tags anymore. The *A FF-status tags (LH and BMI) seem to be safe.

A check-in agent once hinted that non-*A status tags should be removed before UA flights to avoid a mix-up.

If you write requesting replacements, I'm sure the other airlines will understand.
