I'm quite certain about that one, although I can't find anything now to "prove" it. but it might not be something too universal and being offered to everyone, maybe only targeted to some, but I did remember having heard about it from CX/CPLP friends or here on FT - but at that time I was AA EXP and not CX DM, so I didn't have any first-hand experience myself.

anyway, I also remember many people talked about getting upgraded the first flight after requalifying for DM - personally I haven't experienced this both this and last year (it's so far my 3rd time qualifying/re-qualifying for DM only, which started with the CX/KA merger). I re-qualified both years quite early on in the membership year (around the 4th month), but never got upgraded around or soon after that time. do people know it's CX only or KA too ? e.g. I just reached 120k again ~2-3 weeks ago I think and so far have probably flown HKG-PVG-HKG roundtrips 2-3 times in J, most often with planes with an F cabin, but never upgraded...(not that I want this upgrade to happen on such a short flight, but I'm getting tired planning too much anyway - last year I planned so that there's a medium-haul CX roundtrip in J after reaching 120k, but nothing happened and I didn't get into F anyway...then I was in F or A for all the CX long-haul afterwards anyway). if they're really serious about giving an upgrade to people when they requalify for DM, why don't they just send an upgrade coupon...instead of us having to game the system and plan so that the upgrade happens on a long enough flight...

anyway, again, just back to the point from the OP...there's really not too much "interesting" perks/promo for being a DM...mostly just getting the phone answered quick (which for other airlines/hotels is something that a very basic member should get), and better chance of getting award availability.
