Well I hope you are wrong - the 'nice' lady behind the counter said I could do this, provided I had ID with the same name as the passenger. In the past I have checked in two of us with a bag each (and my wife not present). I'm expecting a challenge here, but hopefully a supervisor will be nearby. I also have the key to the suitcase if he wants to look into the bag.
What you are suggesting is ludicrous.
It's one thing presenting yours and your wife's bag at check-in, without DYKWMWI present, provided that you answer the security questions that they are
your bags etc etc, and they fall within
your baggage allowance.
But it's absurd to suggest that you should go to the airport, with DYKWMWI's bags, and expect to check them in, if you are not travelling.
Perhaps you could check in a case for Mr B Laden and Mr R Reid while you are there?
