Check in, and ground handling generally, at GVA is a total shambles.

There is generally a massive queue around the "check in assistance" desks (why aren't they just check in desks?) and there's absolutely no attempt to differentiate business from economy pax.

The staff attitude is almost consistently uninterested - not unfriendly but you get the strong feeling that you are inconveniencing them fairly massively by bothering them to ask to check in or whatever.

Last week my wife was flying to London with two bags. We went up to the check in desk and the lady behind the counter told her she couldn't take them both as only one bag was allowed. There wasn't even an attempt to charge excess baggage. It was only when I queried her and said I thought that business class pax were entitled to two bags that she bothered to look at my wife's boarding pass and say "Ah, business class - that's different!"

Boarding is also a total joke, at the furthest gate from the security checkpoint again done by rather disinterested non-BA employees.

The only plus is the very pleasant lounge staff. The lounge is way too small, and often full of VERY angry passengers as the GVA flights always seem to be first / worst affected by any problems at LHR. They cope with the situation like saints.

If LX had flights to LHR then I'd be taking them regularly instead of BA. As it is, BA have a monopoly on my c.30 flights a year on this route.
