I wouldn't use a vacuum-type bag, as the suction could conceivably pull the down feathers out of the jacket. A regular space bag (where you compress the bag down) should be okay, but as a general rule, you aren't supposed to compress down for any extended period of time.
Down jackets (expensive ones) are made with down proof materials that won't allow the down to exit the exterior of the fabric. For quick storage it's fine, but down should always be stored in open form to prevent compression of the quills.
