I'm pretty much at the point where I'm ready to leave Avis because of Avis First, but I was wondering if some wise minds here could salvage my relationship with Avis.

Everything was fine until I became Avis First. Before that, I would reserve a luxary car (Cadillac or Lincoln town car). I would get a Cadillac or Lincoln Town car. I was happy and presumably Avis was happy. But then I made Avis First. Since then, I have _never_ received the car I wanted. I kept reserving Cadillacs and getting SUVs, and then the lightbulb went on. They are upgrading me! OK, so I'll reserve a car class one below what I actually want. When I do that, I get exactly what I reserve, with no upgrade.

If I go to the counter and complain, I can actually get the Cadillac or Lincoln I want. That is, I get it _IF_ they have any left. Since they had no intention of giving me one, they don't hold one for me.

This is a deal breaker for me with Avis because I am 6'4" and have osteoarthritis in both knees. The leg room of the bigger cars is critical to me.

In a nutshell, is there anyway, with Avis First status, to actually reserve a model of car?
