I don't know if the pilots were informed of the problems or not, but if they feel that an airplane is unsafe they do have the right to refuse flying the aircraft (of course with consequences like being reprimanded or punished). Bottom line is the airlines care more for $$$ and less and less for safety.

Having said all this, my heart does go out to all the families affected!

Hope this will not start any new Q400 case where error after error appears. Rumors say that the plane was approved OK to take off after tehcnical problems. Let us hope this is just a rumor.

Please stay on track in this discussion. Many people lost their lives today and I will not accept assumptions about SAS/Spanair safety until there are facts on the table. SAS and Spanair are safe airlines, safety always comes first, and out of respect for the people that work there and the passengers/crew that died today, please think before you hit the Post Reply button
