Anyway, they rebooked me from EWR-LAX-LIH to EWR-DEN-SFO-LIH on the outbound, but they were pretty accomodating about finding me a JFK-LAX at a more convenient time.

We're on that fare, and I was hoping we might be able to get UA to let us leave out of DC, but no dice. The JFK-LAX alternative was a reasonable consolation prize, however. Now crossing my fingers for upgrade space.
