Flights prices souring year?

I was looking at some flights next year and have noticed on the whole that flights are souring in cost, although to be honest i am not suprised with the current cost of fuel.

I was however suprised, to notice that the gap between ex-eu flights and flights departing LON has significantly reduced. Take for example, myself and mrs globalste flew OSL-LHR-SFO-LHR-OSL for a price of £1346pp inc tax. Just browsing on ITA the cheapest I found to SFO is direct from LON for a whopping £2544! I think I would rather fly Virgin Upper Class as it costs less
