AC's current fare is about as low as it is likely t go. In fact, at about C$850 base it is the cheapest fare AC offers to Asia. Curiously the fuel surcharge is $100 or so more than to the further destinations of HKG, PVG and PEK. The fare went no lower during the seat sale over the past two weeks and has not gone up since it ended. The default is also an A fare, which is upgradeable with SSWUs, and not the P fare to other Asian cities that is not. I booked mine last week for a late October departure/early November return, so suggest you do the same. It won't be any cheaper...though you now will have to stop over in YVR in both directions since AC ended the daily nonstops from YYZ. However, it is still on a new 777 which is pretty good in the back too. Much better than UA even if you have access to E+ since UA doesn't offer inseat on demand video in economy as AC now does. And the booze is still free on AC, UA charges. And a brief stopover in YVR is much better than an actual transit connection at ORD where you'd have to pass through US immigration/customs and change terminals, then do the same when you got home to YYZ.
