Actually the 744 was on UA944/945. 945 left FRA around 8h30 a.m. with very little connecting traffic from other cities. This combined with the large 744 was a vitual gurantee your upgrade cleared.

A couple years earlier UA 916/917 IAD-FRA-IAD was operated in summertime as a 744 as well.
