Is it official, sure...I've flown on all of them and can agree. Most turboprop flights are easier just to drive. Usually short hops to hubs. Granted the examples given of SYR, JFK and others out of CLE aren't drivable, yet those are served by other airlines with other aircraft. I do all my homework and systematically try to avoid props--but that's just me. Most fliers I find have little to no clue what kind of aircraft they're booked on, and act shocked to find they're on a bus from ABE-EWR, then a 777 to Europe.
If you want to see shocked, take a gander at passengers that have booked Jet Blue from, let's say, San Francisco to Martha's Vineyard. They step off the transcon jet in Boston and get strapped into a 9 passenger cessna prop, Talk about bonkers.
