Leesburg always runs cheaper. Sterling and Chantilly/Centreville are hit-or-miss. Herndon and Reston, in the direction most car-renting visitors are coming from, are occasionally even and never more than 2-3 cents/gal cheaper. Between avoiding paying $1.25 toll in cash, skipping 267 traffic, and the convenience factor, the IAD Exxon wins every time.

By comparison, Circle K on the DEN rental car loop was charging 44c more per gallon than the closest local stations last weekend.
