First, let me say, I love these devices. However, I get very frustrated at POS. Especially at places like Sheetz, movie theaters, MLB games. Most cashiers have no clue what this technology is. I blame their management for not training them. At the above mentioned venues, they hide the receivers behind the registers often (some say they are "clutter") or turn the receivers off unless a cardholder insists on using it.

I even got into an argument once that my payment was accepted after the receiver beeped and lit up (the cashier said I never saw your card).

Also remember that FT'ers are not the norm.... We embrace new technologies faster and easier than the typical everyday consumer.

American Express discontinued their key chains basically because of the lack of acceptance by members and customers (but as mentioned earlier it is still offered as a built in to some cards).

Heck, even Citibank, a MAJOR card issuer does not even offer the technology at their teller windows, yet it is built into their ATM cards.... What does that tell you?

So, given that, I only can depend on the local 7-11 or McDonald's?

In order for this technology to take off like it did in other countries, we need card issuers and merchants to cooperate and train and offer the benefit at the majority of merchants. @:-)

Just my two c as a true believer in the technology.
