Looking at fares, Finnair have some really good promos at the moment; MAN-Helsinki-PVG is £385, more than £200 cheaper than AF/KLM. I have a contact in Finnair that may be able to status match my FB Plat for me.

I've never flown Finnair. Question is, if I can get a status match, which would should I go for? Naturally, the default is Finnair on price and the connections look fine but I have no idea about the comparable soft benefits such as lounge quality, seat comfort, food, IFE etc

Any help gratefully received

I flew finnair in J recently on CDG HEL ICN, their newest route.

Lounge base : AY international closer to gates (+), AY europe lounge really small and dark (-), no champagne in AY lounge (--), but working uncrowded PC w/ internet stations (+), newspaper and magazine less impressive in AY (-) but ok in flight. The rest is on par I would say.

Flight base (only J) : AF meals (++), AY wines (++ on every account : better champagne, far better Bordeaux red wine actually drinkable, even Sauternes in J when inexistant in AF), Cheese or dessert not both on AY , just like KLM what a stingy disgrace ! (--), seats are on par but I have the feeling AY is more spacious, less cramped AY(+), IFE AY is not so great in movie choices (-), Service : I don't have much experience with AY but both flight give me the feeling it is better than AF (thx to Asian customers in J I guess), Amenity kit AY (+).
