I honestly cannot imagine why an EXP would throw away the opportunity for a special reward worth potentially US$6,000 or much more, in factor of one worth US$250.
Even if one doesn't use the eVIP to the max, the bare minimum worth would be $50+15,000 miles for 3 domestic segments = approximately US$350 (assuming a value of 2 cents per mile).
Given the options and very low odds of using the extra 2 VIPS I do not see that value. Many will... granted. Also...as an EXP my domestic upgrades are assumed at 90% fulfillment anyway.
If AA had a free booze policy in the AC it would be a no brainer.... for most.
But that's what got me in trouble the first time!
