Indeed! And all b/c you can use eVIPs on itineraries are complicated as that listed in post #6, doesn't mean it wouldn't be useful to confirm an upgrade on a JFK-LAX transcon, or DFW-HNL at time of booking.

Also, to the OP: do you make your own travel arrangements or does someone in your company (either a corporate travel dept or an admin asst? Why not see if they can use them)

As an alternative, simply keep them in your account for a "pay it forward" opportunity. I use all of my eVIPs, but not too long ago I used 500 mile stickers to upgrade an elderly woman flying DFW-BOS. She was being escorted to the gate by her daughter. She was attending her sister's funeral in BOS and the family couldn't afford tickets for both to go. I spoke the gate agent, gave up a couple of stickers and voila an F ticket.
