Hilton is my primary program but I mostly using it for earning on business revenue stays and redeeming awards for leisure travel. When I need to purchase a leisure stay with real money I often end up at Priceline and Hotwire. To date, I've never bid/bought and ended up in a Hilton, but a couple of other brands have recognized my status on award stays. Mariott recognized my Gold status and gave me free breakfast and a king room on a Hotwire stay. The biggest surprise was a corner-suite upgrade at the Hyat Regency Atlanta Downtown, along with strawberries/smores/champagne waiting in the room. This was a one-night priceline stay for $55 and I was a Hyatt Diamond. I had written a snail-mail letter to the GM a couple of weeks prior informing him it would be a stay celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and any accommodations he could make for the special occasion were greatly appreciated.
