Can you expound? After ticketing, there is always a reason IME, although sometimes VERY BAD reasons that should never result in ticket cancellation.
I have had:
1) UA award segments being canceled before the reservation was ticketed with no reason being offered.
2) Ticketed reservations involving LX being canceled when LX made a schedule change. There was no longer availability on the flights. The flight time had changed by about 30 minutes and all connections still worked just fine. The flight # had changed, this may be part of the problem. I was NOT contacted by BD - and BD has my (BD Gold) contact info.
About a month later, LX opened up award avail again and I was able to re-ticket. Had I not been using checkmytrip, I would have never known about the cancellation. A very poor practice.
3) BD has repeatedly failed to re-ticket previously ticketed reservations after I made date changes in a timely manner. Calling has gotten repeated "will be ticketed within 2 hours" promises. These promises were consistently inconsequential. In due coarse, these previously ticketed reservations with new dates needing to be reticketed had the flight segments canceled by the carriers to be flown due to lack of ticketing. Followed by calls to BD, the canceled segments being added back, and another empty 2 hour promise.
One situation was resolved by a rep who gave in to my insistence that he put me on hold until my reservation was ticketed. 45 minutes later taxes were loaded and my reservation was soon ticketed.
Another situation was resolved when I luckily got the BD boss and he delivered as promised.
In the case of ticketed reservations, does BD have any legal liability if they do not accommodate? Would the cash component of cash + miles bookings change the legal rights of the ticketed passenger?
Under what circumstances is an EU carrier legally allowed to cancel a ticket without the passenger's consent?
(I would hesitate to take legal action - we want to keep cash + miles alive and perhaps a suit costing BD real money could endanger the option).
