Yes, we prefer to fly out of San Diego. That's why we are thinking of using Hawaiian Airlines... SAN - HNL - SYD.

I'll have to look into what we'll do about the points for flights vs. hotels dilemma. I have always used points for hotels in the past but was thinking it would be an OK usage because of the ticket prices. Will look into that right away.

When is the best time to purchase airfare to Australia? What are the best websites to watch (I look at the usual... airfarewatchdog, kayak, + 4-5 others)? I tried to get in on that $380 sale with Qantas (for 1st 380 pax) several weeks back... but was too late!
