I was once told by a CY FD person that Late check out is easy to grant for a Plat. at the obvious lie (I was gold at that time and that stay will bump me to Plat).

It varies by hotel and I had late checkouts even when I was silver / gold but as others have mentioned, some places (or I should say employees) have tough time giving a late checkout.
