This thread makes me realize how old I am! When I saw the title, I had fond memories of a coffeehouse I frequented in the late 60's - early 70's. It had a small stage where poets would recite and singer/songwriters would perform acoustic sets. The tables were huge cable spools covered with checkerboard tablecloths and illuminated by candles set in old chianti bottles. The walls were covered with very literate grafitti.
Very different from today's coffeehouse full of business people with laptops.
Do the coffeehouses of my memories still exist today? Where? I'd really like to visit one again.
