Bagage Limits and "sporting equipment"?

So I just noticed that the people over at SQ lack a double digit IQ and only allow 23kg bags even in F. I have an upcoming trip to DPS from LAX via SIN and will bring my dive bag which will weigh more than 50lbs. When I went to the great barrier in AU and flew QF they had a special exception for "sporting equipment", matter of fact most carriers seem to these days, I couldn't find anything regarding that on the SQ baggage page (which is pretty lame IMO). It appears that since my itn involves the US I get only 23kg/bag, the weight concept had a chart with (ridiculous) over-weight charges but for flights involving the US it said to refer to the other chart which didn't have anything regarding overweight bags. Does that mean the simply won't accept anything over 23kg?

I simply cannot believe they have the same bag limits for Y, C, F what on Earth were they thinking!
