August 12th = 31st day
One should get a better gauge after tomorrow - this is the 31st day and you can then terminate contract with AT&T, pay the ETF.

I've emailed my friends in Beijing to see if the two iPhones they took over have been unlocked. And a re-seller in NYC claims he can do it for $20?
