I am cutting it real close for my gold qualification and am wondering whether I will end up disappointed for not making it because I am misunderstanding the way nights are counted. Here is my question:

I started staying with marriott August 2007 with my first stay going from end of August to Sept 4th. By now I am in need of 2 more nights for gold and have a reservation that starts August 29th, i.e. basically AFTER my first night of the 2007 stay but before the end of the 2007 stay. So the question is do I have to reach 50nights within a year of the beginning or end of my stay back in 2007?
