Okay, I said Australia and not international but for the OP this doesn't make a difference.
And a foreign owned airline can not fly passengers (or freight) pure domestically in the US (Ask Virgin America or DHL about this issue).
This is not quite right...Qantas do have this one domestic route in the US, San Fra - LAX - JFK, it is a hangover from the very early days. QANTAS also had fly on rights to London. They choose not to fly domestic passengers in the US presumably because of arrangements with AA, they voluntarily gave up NY to London a few years back.
