United seems to have gotten very strict with not extending beyond the 14 days hold. I have had to cancel and reticket numerous times during the past 2 months while I firmed up all the other travel plans.

In comparison,when booking with AA (first time ever) they gladly extended the 14 days and then extended it again for another week as I wanted to ticked after June 1 and thus save myself the security fee on 4 tickets.
