This liquid lunacy has made flying somewhat hard for some of us. Dehydration is a serious problem and some people are very susceptible to it. For medical reasons, I need to have access to water.

So I've taken to carrying an empty, filtered water bottle through that I got at a camping store. That way, I can use water from almost any source and it's still safe.

Usually, I just fill it up at a water fountain in the airport. In situations where that isn't possible, I ask a flight attendant for water when I board. If I had to fly US Airways and ran out of water during the flight, I could just fill up from water in the bathroom and not pay the fee. (I know water from airplane tanks isn't really safe, but my filtered water bottle eliminates contaminants).

My prediction:
Some day someone like me is going to be stuck on a long flight (or long delays) and forget to bring a water bottle from outside. If the flight attendants refuse to give that person water, there can be medical complications. Then there would probably be a lawsuit under the ADA that the airline failed to provide reasonable accommodations. (They will provide access for those in wheelchairs but not those like me?!?). With some media attention, I hope such an incident would cause this liquid lunacy to go away then.
