That does make sense, and I'll give it a go. Effectively doing the same thing at both ends. Once with the tag and once with the bag. As long as the tag can fit through what's left between the two.

I remember my dad's BA tags many years ago, which had the thick leather belt type attachment. They lasted through lots.
