Even in 2002, in domestic midcon F, FAs used to gift passengers full bottles of wine up front if the passenger said they liked the vintage. After BK in 12/02, I didn't have the heart to ask for one but I assume they stopped doing it.

tho in my case, i've never commented about the vintage* and have been given a bottle simply with a thank you for your business (or something similar)
*save for one extraordinary australian red as i wanted to write down the label info so i could look for it on stores tho i never was given one of those
