I've cashed a handful of checks over the years....most for $20-50 but a few in Vegas for my daily limit.

I've also heard the "we are low" but really didn't think much about it. I thought it was said to try and limit the amount of cash going out and maybe to prevent theft later on if someone knew they had tons of $$$?
