Good Morning all!

southwest.com availability is exactly the same as whats available through Reservations. I can only think of 2 things that would have caused this.

1. If you did your web search for 2 seats and there was only 1 available on the flight. The web will return only fares that are available for the number of passengers you searched for. When calling in to Res there may have been 1 seat available. If your original search was for multiple passengers, you may want to try re-searching with a lower number - all the way down to 1 to see whats really available.

2. Just a timing thing. Its possible that someone was holding that last seat when you checked online, so it showed unavailable. By the time you got through to Reservations that seat had been released (or cancelled) back into inventory. With the revenue management system that we have in place, its actually possible for there to only be one seat left, but have it be available in multiple fare "buckets". Of course, the opposite is true as well - someone holding a seat from a low fare "bucket" could cancel and the seat would return as only an "anytime" and not back to its original discount bucket.

Reservations does not overbook a soldout flight unless there is an extreme circumstance that warrants it (and then it has to be escalated to a supervisor - our Reservations agents do not have the ability to overbook a flight). We do not offer a "wait list" and standby can only be requested at the airport.

I'm happy that JerryFF was able to get the flight he needed, but nothing magical happened - a seat just opened up between his online check and his phone call.
