1) This was recently discussed so I would suggest doing a search for others opinions. A lot of it will depend on whether you are in Y or J. Personally, I'd stick with CO.
2) Pretty much 0%. CO does not give Elite upgrades on flights to Europe or Asia. Your only chance would be an op-up if the back is oversold, but that is pretty rare.
