There is at least one regular FTer who lives on the wet side, and I'm sure he'll be here soon to chime in.

As for your flights, you're asking for an open-jaw (fly into ITO, depart from KOA). That is very easy to do (subject to availability of course). I do this often when I visit the Big Island.
