IMO, if it's a long flight, not having proper food is of bigger concern then not having a working AVOD.

The AVOD one can go without, but no food (or a very poor choice) is worse, and thus should be eligible for more miles then a malfunctioning AVOD.

Just my two cents...

A big shame they didn't get it right, even when you first was called.
