If you want BA Miles, then the answer is no.

The only I have an AMEX Gold Card it because it lets me get priority bookings and preferred seats for various theatres on Broadway (not even the West End). As me and the other half are theatre luvies, and hop over to NYC for long weekends fairly often just to go to the theatre, this benefit has value to us but not to many others.

There is additional value to the AMEX Plat Card. The main benefit which I value is the free Priority Pass cards for you and your secondary card holder to access to various lounges. You also have access to the hotel booking services which given preferential or upgrade on its bookings
