I have backpacked from Guatemala City all the way to La Paz, Mexico. I have eaten things that I would rather forget, and slept in what must be the worst hotel in Chihuahua with free roaches and a guy with a mexican hat asleeep in the corridor. I have eaten lemon-chilli grasshoppers and Mescal worms in Oaxaca. I have eaten street tacos in the Yukatan. I have slept in the jungle in Guatamala where I had to check for spiders and scorpions before going to bed every night.

Any chain hotel.. in the developed world... does not cause me any concern whatsoever.
