No way. I don't agree with the "must reserve with the same card" at least for Visa. The claims process will ask for the initial rental agreement, the final rental agreement, and a copy of the Visa statement with the charge. They will not ask for proof of reservation.
Maybe the posters are referring to reservations made with their frequent rental profile and a card tied to that profile. In which case you'd want to be careful about which card is billed at the initial pickup.
