If it's protected by patent "in multiple countries," then your Dad would have had to provide detailed information on it to government agencies of each of these already (in order to file such patent), agencies which in turn would have made all these details available to the general public. That's exactly why companies that want to protect "trade secrets" prefer NOT to patent their innovations. I'm afraid you don't understand what patent infringement is.
Now if the government took that info and decided to give it out to other companies, and the other companies used that info, (which I don't consider below this administration given its contempt for the law) THAT would be.
