Try the new Crowne Plaza in Hotel Circle. It's about as good as it gets. There are 3 very nice Hyatt properties in SD, so I agree with that advise.

It really is pretty nice. I've stayed there a few times since they opened last year.
For the best view, but very small rooms, the Holiday Inn on the Bay (not the Bayside location). Right on the water, killer sunsets, view of airport, nice walk to Seaport Village.
