Great topic. I've been planning to launch a thread like this for a few months. I make use of the C class kits as well as the F kits. (Its been years since I've flown first class international, but I always troll through the front cabins upon departure. Usually find one or two bags that don't appear to have been tampered with).
Older style bags:
UA changes the style of amenity kits every once in awhile. I use an two different C-class amenity bags from earlier years as toiletry kit containers. Both have with zippers.
The current blue C class bags:
1. I store leftover currency and coins from other countries. Or on a trip, a blue bag is perfect to hold my US coins seperately until I get back to the USA.
2. A few Christmas decorations get put in blue bags before getting placed in boxes.
3. On long trips I store bring batteries for my CD player in a blue bag.
4. My daughters have used them to hold little things.
5. They can be a way of dramatizing a small gift by enclosing the gift in one of the bags, and then wrap it in a conventional box.
The current First class bags (some kind of brown velveteen with a drawstring, about ten inches deep and eight inches wide)
1. My Bose headset fits perfectly in the UA bag, which is much more sturdy than the black fake silk bag they came in.
2. I've seen flight attendants store work shoes in them. (Many flight attendants carry an pair of soft work shoes and put them on before starting the service).
3. Our best Christmas ornaments are stored in these bags.
4. When I travel, I carry one of these for a utility food bag. In it I'll often tote my own cashews or whatever.
Stuff inside the bags:
1. I've actually used the toothbrushes, but they are useful for cleaning. I keep a couple under the kitchen sink.
2. Perhaps the most useful items are the tissue packs (First class kits are stuffed with a few more tissues, a little known enhancement over C class).
3. I just discovered yet another use for the "Wake for Meals" sticker. In good fun, I've put a "Wake for Meals" on the door of a couple of co-workers. They get reminded when lunch comes.
What other uses have people found for the bags or the stuff in them?
