You don't have to enter the confirmation number. Just swipe any credit card that's in his name and the kiosk will find his reservation from that. The process is very easy.
1. Swipe card
2. Press "Reprint Boarding Pass"
3. Press "Continue" (might be "Next", it's obvious)
You're done. There's never more than two or three button choices and they're nice and big so people can read them without their reading glasses.
