Amex is a global company, but the products are targeted for the specific market and managed locally.
Even if the cards look the same, the requirements (and benefits) may considerably differ between countries. The Platinum charge card is still "by invitation only" in many countries in Asia or even in Europe.
That's the reason why the transfer of a Platinum card from US/UK to another country is usually a mess.
