I have a very valid reason to need to use my own headset on aircraft. I'm hearing impaired and wear behind-the-ear style hearing aids. Extremely few headsets are hearing-aid compatible in microphone or telecoil mode and even if they are, they're still very uncomfortable (at least for me) since I must wear them awkwardly. Plus, they smash against the hearing aids risking damage.

I use either earhooks that transmit electromagnetically for hearing aids in telecoil mode or I use cables with tiny DAI / Europlugs that connect right into the aids. I still have to use the annoying adapter to go from the 3.5mm to 2-plug needed for LH, of course. And I also get the luxury of using an extension cable since my 3 foot cables are not at all long enough for LH C seats.
