I sometimes think that certain marketing folks view the public as fish with themselves as the fisherpersons. They sometimes must test the effectiveness or their bait.
Case in point:

Today I received 2 different offers from Sprint offering MP+ mileage for switching to Sprint's long distance telephone service. The offers were both for the exact same service. But the mileage was different for each offer.

Offer 1: 10,000 mile sign up bonus and 6 mile per $ spent.
Offer 2: 6,000 mile sign up bonus and 5 miles per $ spent.

Sprint must be testing which offer produces the best results. Unfortunately for them I do not think making two seperate and different offers on the same day is money well spent on postage. Unless..... this may be a new marketing strategy where the low offer convinces the consumer the higher offer is really a deal.

Edited to add: The 2 visa offers turned out to be for my older son, and they were both the same.
