Fascinating. You woud think a card that bills itself as a global card would be a bit more organised. This makes me think of HSBC and their "World's local bank" motto, and me thinking "yes, as in, all of the branches are so disconnected from the others that they are entirely local indeed."

I also don't like that they change your account number when you upgrade. When going from gold to plat, we had to notify any hotels w/ guaranteed reservations. As well as any companies that autobilled Amex gold. They actually said they would do this if we gave them a list of companies. It didn't go well.
