I agree that Hotspot at Home works perfectly abroad. If you don't carry a Blackberry, bring a travel router. The other phones are not capable of negotiating the web page based logon screens.
If your corporate VPN doesn't bar internet sharing, I like the D-Link. I can power it off my USB port and plug it into my ethernet port sharing my laptop's wifi signal in pay hotspots, etc. The setup isn't much bigger than a two books of matches. It is smaller than any cell phone other than say a RAZR.
A word of warning. Rogers Home Zone (their equivalent of Hot Spot at HOme) is limited to Canadian IP addresses. It will not even work in the US. Once again, the Canadians get screwed.
