Well, first of all I was responding to the post that said one would NOT be standing by with bags to check.
As to your concerns, generally they don't load the bags until the standby clears. But even if the bag goes without me, I don't see how that's any different than when the bag goes without me during IRROPS. There've been any number of flights (no standby involved) when my bags beat me home. And any number more when they've arrived after me. It happens.

Sure, in theory that's great. And props to you who can make it happen. Some of us, however, have no choice. The amount of stuff I am required to drag around for work leaves me no option but to check bags.
