I have a postgraduate degree, I travel internationally a lot, and what happened to me 30 minutes ago? I was scammed by the "let's go for a drink" deal. Similar to some of the other posts it happened outside the Hilton in Istanbul.

I knew something was up as soon as I entered the bar. Two girls sat down and tried to engage me in chat. I drank half my beer (which I think was spiked because I feel really bad right now) and said I was going to leave. The bill arrived and came to 600 Lira. I protested, handed over the 130 Lira I had in my wallet and then was escorted outside to go to a bank for more money.

Here I did something either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid - as soon as I could I ran for my life. Fortunately I knew where I was and jumped in a taxi as soon as I could and went back to my hotel. Fortunately I didn't tell anyone which hotel I was staying in.

I am freaking out, half drugged and feel like a complete idiot. It can happen to all of us I suppose!
