I do not think you will cause any emotional scar to the kid if you
just put em on a leash to keep them from getting lost
in the crowd, but if you use the leash as a tool to discipline them
(or if you make them feel so) its a different story.

Personally I think if you have just one kid, there is no need to
put em on a leash. If you have three, I can understand.
